The Eight Methods Within Designated Push Hands Partner Practice, Part II(指定推手對練之八法內涵〔二〕)
Five-movement breakdown(分解五動): Partner A initiates, while Partner B responds cooperatively. Yin and yang exchange roles through continuous, repeating cycles.
Partner A: Movements 1–3 — Advancing with the Flow(順勢前進)
The right arm transitions from ward-off(掤)to push(按)and body leaning(靠), followed by a left-side press(左擠). Keep the body and hands relaxed. Through sticking, adhering, connecting, and following(黏貼連隨), fill the space yielded by Partner B, guiding them to retreat and turn to the limit of their balance(平衡底線).
Movement 4 — Deliberately Creating an Opening(主動生隙)
The left hand actively presses toward the right(擠), creating an opportunity for Partner B to follow the movement and apply plucking(採)and splitting(挒).
Movement 5 — Exchanging the Leading and Following Roles(主從易位)
The partners switch the roles of initiating and following, completing one cycle. Each cycle gives rise to the next, sustaining an unbroken flow(生生不息).
