Supple Tai Chi Push Hands
Tai Chi is a treasure of Chinese martial arts, incorporating the "non-action" philosophical logic of Laozi and Zhuangzi, as well as the yin-yang transformation principles of the I Ching. "Non-action" is reflected in the training methods of Tai Chi: looseness, flexibility, and humility. The yin-yang aspects are manifested through the balance of emptiness and solidity in the legs, the movement and stillness of the hands, and the hardness and softness of the body.
Supple Tai Chi push hands focus on the looseness (relaxation) and firmness (stabilization) of the nine major joints of the body (shoulders, elbows, wrists, neck, back, waist, hips, knees, and ankles). By applying the principles of "sticking, adhering, linking, and following without losing the top," practitioners utilize light and agile movements, along with flowing techniques, to master the timing of yin-yang transformations. This allows them to guide the opponent's center of gravity, showcasing the skill of "using softness to overcome hardness." It is a training method that can stimulate the body's potential while ensuring safety.
