Blind Individuals and Tai Chi

Blind Individuals and Tai Chi

Blind Individuals and Tai Chi

Tai Chi forms and push hands techniques are among the few sports that allow visually impaired individuals to participate and spar alongside sighted individuals.

Through over a decade of teaching visually impaired students, it has been observed that many blind individuals face economic challenges, making it difficult for them to afford the costs of specialized transportation, such as paratransit buses or taxis. As a result, they bravely rely on public transportation, which can be quite challenging since they cannot see and often require assistance from others. This dependence can lead to significant mental stress for them.

For blind individuals, arriving punctually at their training location is a small but significant joy in their day, so they cherish the opportunity to practice.
